The New York State School Boards Association is looking for a creative, talented and energetic marketing professional to create, implement and manage marketing campaigns for the Association’s products and services.

Candidates for this position should demonstrate a strong record of writing creative and persuasive copy and a solid understanding of creative writing techniques for all communication channels – including print and online collateral, email, video scripts, social media, as well as digital and print advertising. Candidates should possess the ability to establish a clear, strong voice for NYSSBA and its communication vehicles.

Primary Responsibilities:

Create marketing messages in collaboration with internal departments and the marketing team to shape promotional copy for multiple advertising channels

Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans and projects for new and existing products

Write and edit Association membership materials such as handbooks, guides and product brochures

Continually seek new understanding of the marketplace and target audiences through either direct interaction with current members or member relations team to develop attention-grabbing, content-rich copy

Analyze member research, current market conditions and competitor information

Contribute to the development of content strategies for marketing the Association’s products and services

Monitor, review and report on marketing project activity and results

Work with project management system to plan and track marketing tasks.

Requirements and Skills:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications

Copywriting and editing expertise

Minimum 3-5 years marketing experience

Knowledge of copywriting best practices for direct mail, web, email, video etc.

Expertise in crafting headlines and short-form copy and long-form copy

Marketing campaign development

Translating complex concepts into reader-friendly formats

Experience in education or nonprofit association marketing a plus

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong proofreading skills

Strong project management, multitasking and time management skills

Problem analysis and problem solving skills
